Jacqueline, a Cajun, grew up in Acadiana. Those early Louisiana experiences are a constant presence in her life and a frequent influence in her work. Her short stories and essays have received five Pushcart nominations and her novel, The Year the Colored Sisters Came to Town, was selected for the Pen/Faulkner Writers in Schools program.
